Chelmsford, it’s time to celebrate our brilliant city once again as the BID Business Awards return for their third year in 2026.
Following an incredible second year, with over 2,000 nominations, 10,000 public votes and a sold-out awards evening at Chelmsford Cathedral, the awards are back to recognise and celebrate the outstanding businesses that make Chelmsford city centre thrive.
THE CATEGORIES
You can nominate Chelmsford’s local businesses across 12 refreshed award categories for 2026.
If you believe a business fits more than one category, you’re encouraged to nominate them in each relevant award.
Please note:
All nominated businesses must have a physical shop or office premises within the BID area (Chelmsford City Centre). If you’re unsure whether a business falls within the zone, please check our business directory.

HOW IT WORKS
Stage One: Nominations
The local community nominates their favourite Chelmsford city centre businesses across 12 award categories.
Nominations close: Tuesday 31 March 2026
Stage Two: Shortlisting
Our BID Business Awards judging panel reviews all nominations and selects a shortlist for each category.
Stage Three: Public Vote
Public voting opens in April, giving the community the chance to choose their winners from each shortlisted category.
Stage Four: Awards Evening
Winners will be revealed at the Chelmsford BID Business Awards evening, hosted at the beautiful Chelmsford Cathedral on:
