Concrete Canvas 2022: Community Engagement – Lords of the Swords Hayley has depicted characters skating and included logos and content about the local skate shop, skate crew and teams. Hayley says “ The main thing that we wanted to get across was the sense of community and the sense that skate parks are one of the few places where you can have a 5 year old and a 60 year old doing the same activity and there's no guarantee that one of them is going to be better than the other one!”.

Concrete Canvas 2023: All of the designs created for the CCTV bases were informed by information provided by the Community Safety Team. It is fascinating to see how 6 artists with the same brief have taken their artwork in different directions.

Artists Profile: Hayley Wells is a Chelmsford-based illustrator with an MA in Children’s Book Illustration from Cambridge School of Art. Their work has been published in books worldwide and translated into several languages. When they’re not illustrating, Hayley can be found growing vegetables at their allotment or falling over on roller skates.
